AFJ Evaluates Good Practices in Central America SPS Technical Assistance

Vice-President Jason Hafemeister presented findings from a review of eight technical assistance projects in Central America nominated as examples of good practices in SPS technical assistance on October 6 in Geneva, Switzerland.  The review was sponsored by the WTO Standards Development and Trade Facility and covered both institutional strengthening and specific market access projects.  Key findings of the review included creating and taking advantage of changes in the trade policy environment, focusing on discrete export objectives, collaborating with private sector and importing country governments, and exploiting regional approaches.  Information on the project can be found at http://www.standardsfacility.org/index.htm
