Hafemeister on Faculty for Georgetown Law Center’s WTO Academy

Washington, DC.  AFJ Vice President Jason Hafemeister lectured on the WTO Agreements on Agriculture and the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures at a conference at the Georgetown University Law Center.  The lectures reviewed the legal provisions of the agreements, key disputes litigated under WTO dispute settlement, and prospects for change through the Doha Development Agenda negotiations.  Hafemeister was on the negotiating teams for those two agreements in the Uruguay Round, involved in implementation of the agreements under the WTO, and was the lead negotiator for agriculture in the Doha negotiations up through February of this year. Since joining AFJ Hafemeister has worked on several projects that assess the implications of the Doha negotiations for trade in agricultural products.
